Passed BizTalk 2010 exam (70-595)

Today I passed the BizTalk 2010 exam and I am certified technology specialist again. In the past I passed the BizTalk 2006 (70-235) and BizTalk 2006 R2 (70-241), but both of them where retired just recently (30th of June 2011). I prepared my self using resources you will find in one of my previous posts. Having a virtual machine with BizTalk 2010 with a lot samples is a great help in preparing. It was a challenging exam with some though questions I had to think about, but also a lot I could answer easily through experience. Any one that will take the exam in near future I would like to wish them good luck and success. It is definitely worth the effort!

Congratulations,

I passed it last month. You really have to have experience on 2006 R2 forward to pass it.

I think MS should have a separate exam for BizTalk 2010 Administration. This is becoming a specialty in itself.

What are your Virtual Machine specs? Do you run it on your desktop/laptop?

I have HP EliteBook 8740w laptop equipped with Core i7 2 quad core CPUs, 16 Gb RAM, and 500 Gb hard disk. I use VMWare for creating VM machines. For BizTalk 2010 VM I allocated 4 processors, 4Gb ram and 40 Gb of disk. I hope this answers your question.

WCF-SQL Adapter Table Operations

In this post I like to show all table operations possible with WCF-SQL Adapter. The WCF based SQL Adapter can be used to connect BizTalk applications to SQL Server. WCF-SQL Adapter is part of BizTalk Server Adapter Pack 2.0, but can also be downloaded separately. To work with the adapter you will need to install the WCF LOB Adapter SDK SP2 before installing this adapter. Something that is overlooked easily, which also accounts for the fact that this adapter is offered as a supplement to BizTalk Server 2009. You must have a valid license for the BizTalk Server in order to use the SQL adapter and be eligible for support and to receive updates. To implement BizTalk solutions it is a good practice to have an DTAP environment in place. DTAP stands for Development, Test, Acceptance and Production. Development and test environments are equal (mirrored) and same account for acceptance and production. Deploying DTAP environments is easy, because there are many factors influencing outcome of DTAP.
